What we offer local authorities

Kepplewray and Local Authorities

Kepplewray is the ideal place to bring an individual or group needing time away

When children or adults and their carers need a break in a different setting the Kepplewray Centre could be an ideal place for them.  Our staff come from a range of professional backgrounds including teaching, social work, nursing and occupational therapy and all share our core ethos of caring for and seeking to give all our guests a really good time.

Canoe under jetty - adventure in a safe setting

Kepplewray is deliberately working towards the empowerment of those who are so often excluded by society.  Kepplewray challenges the cultural stereotypes of disability and especially negative categorisation of individuals into labelled compartments such as ‘dependent’, ‘carer’ and ‘disabled’.  While recognising that individuals carry the weight of some of these labels, the aim of the project is to help people take a new view of themselves and others and to maybe discover a new approach to their lives.  With careful design and provision of each activity programme, the centre aims to improve the quality of life for guests by providing the following:

  • Good quality facilities with full disabled access

  • Careful activity programming to provide individual and group development.

  • A time of memorable challenges and enjoyment that will refresh and reinvigorate

A full programme of activities can be arranged to suit the requirements of the guests, both on-site and in the surrounding Lake District National Park.  This ranges from canoeing and abseiling to hand-cycling and kite-making.  All our activities are fully accessible and Kepplewray has an activities license from the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority.  All staff are appropriately qualified and experienced and have completed our police-checking procedure.  Both indoor and outdoor options can be arranged as well as trips to local places of interest.
