"Kepplewray will empower people to experience as well as recognise what they can achieve together" - Professor Stephen Hawking CBE - Patron of Kepplewray |
Kepplewray is committed to an approach to disability work based on bringing disabled and non-disabled people together - 'inclusion'. The project provides an inclusive activity, education and holiday centre for schools, families, individuals and groups. Additionally, through training programmes in disability issues and consultancy in complying with legislation and good practice it promotes the ethos of inclusion to the statutory, voluntary and business sectors.
Kepplewray is a mansion in the South West of the English Lake District National Park. It was built by a wealthy industrialist in 1899 and has been re-furbished and equipped as a fully inclusive centre, designed for groups which include a proportion of members with disabilities. The centre is licenced by the AALA - Adventure Activities Licensing Authority. The project was conceived in the early nineties and fully opened in May 1998. We currently employ between 15 and 25 staff depending on the season.
The Kepplewray Trust is a UK registered charity (1015762) with a Christian foundation. Although most of the income is derived from those using Kepplewray, capital programmes and subsidies for those who cannot afford the full cost are paid for by supporters. Read the latest annual report.
