The Great North Run was a great success for our runners. All of them finished and enjoyed fellowship and a meal together at the end - thank you to those who organised and this and fed them. I am sure we will have photographic evidence in the near future.
Around 10 runners had a sponsorship page on the justgiving website. This has proved to be a great success and indeed has raised around £8,000. It makes life easier for our runners who do not have to run around again and get sponsoship money off people and then send it on to us. If you would like to sponsor any of our runners you can do so through the Kepplewray Justgiving page - just press the button below!
Around 30 runners will be joining thousands of others on Saturday 05 October in Newcastle. Yes, the Great North Run has come round again. We are very grateful to our runners who not only run 13 miles but raise money for Kepplewray in the process. If you would like to sponsor them then please go to the support us page and donate via the justgiving button.
Broughton Parish families will be enjoying a day out together at Kepplewray on 04 October. The day will be spent canoeing, kayaking, ghyll scrambling or raft building. All opportunities for families to work together and probably get wet! These parish days have been going for two years now and have become a tradition for the community. There are days where just the children enjoy a day without mum or dad and then there are these family days. A big thank you to all those who help in any way to make these days the huge success that they are.
An Open Day at Kepplewray has been fixed for 18 October 2008. There will be an opportunity for you to sample our home-made shortbread and scones and take part in some of the on-site activities. If you would like a leaflet about this event please contact us. You will be required to book in advance.
Bishop Eraste and his wife, Consolate are visiting England for the Lambeth Conference but took time out before to visit the Carlisle Diocese, including Kepplewray. They enjoyed time at Rose Castle with the Bishop of Carlisle before coming to Broughton-in-Furness where Eraste took the school assembly on Monday and they both enjoyed watching a summer school production in the afternoon. On Tuesday they had a visit to Rydal Hall and then spent some time enjoying the Cumbrian seaside! Whilst here they were also able to observe one of our canoe sessions with a group of people with disabilities.
