Kepplewray has many volunteers who give their time freely in order to help us out. The work undertaken by our volunteers ranges from gardening through administration to helping with the on going maintenance and refurbishment of the building.
Our list of volunteers includes people of all ages from many different walks of life. Some are able to help out for several days in a row, others work for an hour here or there as and when they can fit it in. We welcome all volunteers and hope that we can help them as much as they can help us.
We can offer College and University student placements and School work experience. These are usually of a week's duration (Monday to Friday) but can be any length from a day to a month or more. We have welcomed students from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, the National Citizen Service scheme, Princes Trust, Millennium Volunteers, Universities, Theological Colleges, Furness College and individuals.
- Students are usually given a programme, which covers morning, afternoon and evening.
- We try to give all an experience of each area of work (Activity Services, Residential Services, Support Services and Training Services).
- A typical week's placement would usually involve a day or two on activities, two or three days working with the Residential Services team and perhaps a day on office duties.
If you would like to undertake a placement at Kepplewray, please complete the application form found below and contact us.
All prospective volunteers are asked to complete an application form (available here) and come in for a chat prior to undertaking any voluntary work on our behalf.
We also form work parties to help with a specific project over a weekend or a few days. Kepplewray provides the accommodation and food - you provide helping hands. Groups who have taken up this opportunity include: Community Service, HMP Haverigg, Deutsche Bank, Princes Trust, St John's College Cambridge, family groups and individuals.
If you would like to bring a work party to Kepplewray, please contact us by phone or by using the form on this page.
