Kayaking

A happy child KayakingLearn the Eskimo Roll!

Originally designed for Eskimos to cross water whilst hunting, your single handed kayak can get you out on Coniston Water, exploring the small bays and natural beauty of the area. We will teach you all of the skills needed to enable you to become a proficient kayaker.

Our boats are great for both the novice and the experienced paddler, with retractable skegs to help you steer and waterproof hatches to stow anything from lunch to overnight camping equipment.

You can progress from the calm waters of the lake to tackling the more challenging environment of a river and can even take skill awards and the Foundation Safety and Rescue Training.

Kayaking is slightly more physical than canoeing and also helps to improve health and fitness. Kayaking can also be undertaken by people of any age and any ability. Led by our experienced instructors, everyone can appreciate the delights of being afloat on Coniston Water.
